Halloween Costumes For Your Bump

With Halloween right around the corner we are getting excited about all the costumes, trick-or-treating, and parties. Being pregnant during Halloween means a few things are different, including a built in accessory if you know how to use it. Here are a few of our favorite costumes that incorporate a growing bump!

Couples Costumes

After all, you and your partner are going through this pregnancy together so why not have some fun dressing up together? Here are our favorite costumes that can incorporate two plus a bump.

The Solar System and Galileo

You already are his moon and his stars, right? Right around the time you’re showing that bump, you may even feel like the whole solar system so you may as well dress like it. Dress yourself up like the solar system and he like Galileo. You could also both be planets incorporated into the galaxy and if this isn’t your first baby, you could also have a toddler be a planet or the moon.

Farmer and The Cow

We know—you’ll probably only dress in this costume if you’re comfortable with people referencing your utters all night. (For moms who have been through breastfeeding before, this hits close to home doesn’t it?) If you have extra’s to dress up, let them play along as another farm animal or little calf! You’ll be singing Hi-ho, the derry-o all night long.

Darth Vader and The Death Star

We know—you’ll probably only dress in this costume if you’re comfortable with people referencing your utters all night. (For moms who have been through breastfeeding before, this hits close to home doesn’t it?) If you have extra’s to dress up, let them play along as another farm animal or little calf! You’ll be singing Hi-ho, the derry-o all night long.

Baker and Bun in the Oven

We know—you’ll probably only dress in this costume if you’re comfortable with people referencing your utters all night. (For moms who have been through breastfeeding before, this hits close to home doesn’t it?) If you have extra’s to dress up, let them play along as another farm animal or little calf! You’ll be singing Hi-ho, the derry-o all night long.

Bob Ross and His Inspiration

Who doesn’t want to be the happiest little tree in the forest? Have him dress up as Bob Ross and you can be the happy little tree—yes, with a perfect little squirrel living inside. This landscape is almost complete.

Dr. Seuss and Thing 1, Thing 2

Thing 1 is you, Thing 2 is new and your partner can dress up as another “thing” or as The Cat in The Hat. If you have more little ones involved, we’re not going to stop you at just 2-3 “things” — feel free to have as many as you need!

Costumes for The Family

Halloween is a ton of fun with little ones around since you can take them trick-or-treating, to fairs, and parties. Here are some costumes that pairs your little ones and your bump!

Despicable Me

As an expectant mom, your growing bump can act as the perfect round belly for Vector in his orange jumpsuit. Your little ones and partner can be Gru, minions or Gru’s adorable daughters.

Little Mermaid

When else will you be fitting to play the part as Ursula from The Little Mermaid?! Strap on those tentacles and get the rest of the family involved—pictured above are King Titan, Ariel and Sebastian but there are a handful of characters from this classic that would be fun to make costumes for.

Baby Shark

Baby Shark, Mama Shark (or in this case lifeguard—make it as Baywatch as you want 😉or not) and shark attack victim. Be prepared for a lot of “baby shark” singing and song playing as you go door to door.

Willy Wonka

Willy Wonka, an Oompa Loompa, and the only character that you and your growing bump could possibly be—Violet Beauregarde after she blows up like a blueberry! This idea is a sure way to be the most fun and colorful costumes at whatever party you’re going to. Have a cat, dog or small baby that needs to be included? A Chocolate Bar with a golden ticket is the perfect additional prop.

Pumpkin Patch

With an ever growing pumpkin patch, theres nothing more festive than dressing a baby up as a pumpkin for Halloween. Plus, those scarecrow outfits will be just what mama needs to have a comfortable and covered bump.

Monsters Inc.

Monsters! Except they are the ones we all love from Monsters Inc. Dress as Mike Wazowski, James P. Sullivan and Boo. This costume idea can be as professional or DIY as you want it.

Costumes Can Be Funny

With a bump as an accessory, there are tons of ways to play it up funny costumes. Whether your bump is painted like a pumpkin, or you use it to represent something else, here are some fun ideas to consider.

Basketball Star

If you have a favorite team, grab your jersey and some orange paint. You bump just became your b-ball for this sporty (and comfortable—hello elastic shorts) costume. By the way, we could see Dad wanting to take part in this one too.

Prego

Prego? Yes! Dress up as a ready-to-eat sauce for a fun play on words, and if you’re someone special is looking for an idea you can always make them be the noodles!

Fish Bowl

Simple, sleek, we may even say this costume is a bit on the sophisticated side. If all that you can fit into is a simple black dress that you may (or may not) have worn every day for the last few months of your pregnancy… this one is for you! Add a few pieces of cut felt to your bump and suddenly, you’re a fish bowl!

Avocado

Who doesn’t love this green goddess fruit? Not that we ever thought of dressing as it, but what better time than when you have a natural “pit” to incorporate. Cut an avocado shape from a piece of poster board or cardboard and paint away, cut out an additional circle for your bump to stick through and ta-da!

Kangaroo

We can think of a number of adorable Mom and Baby animal costume ideas, but how appropriate is a kangaroo for your growing belly bump. 1 stuffed animal and some ears is all you are away from a pretty cute costume that can be thrown together with a number of things you probably already have in your closet.

Beer Belly

You better have something other than beer in your Coors Light can, but when else will this costume ever be as hilarious!? Take that bump and turn it into a beer belly. Be as wild as you want to get with extra stains on the white tank and drawn on selected body hair.

Spooky, Scary, and Classic Costumes

If you enjoy the creepy and crawly aspects of Halloween, use your bump to shock and scare your friends! We can’t decide if these costumes are hilarious or downright terrifying!

Alien Invasion

Sometimes pregnancy feels so strange and new that we sometimes question if we are growing a baby or an alien. This is the perfect costume to express that feeling, plus get your gore out of your system before it’s November.

Baby Bust Out

By using doll arms and a tiny jack-o-lantern with some red paint you can make it look like your little one is coming out a little earlier than expected. Early enough to be doing some trick-or-treating of their own.

Zombie Baby

What is scarier than this? A zombie baby emerging from your abdomen will be just scary enough to satisfy your dark side this October while freaking out most (if not all) of your neighbors at the same time.

Skeleton

The ultimate classic costume idea (aside from putting a sheet over your head and calling yourself a ghost) and the very thing we can’t get off our minds around this particular holiday: skeletons. Dress yourself in just your bones and be sure to get baby’s skeleton drawn out on your bump. If you want to be a bit cuter than creepy, add little hearts underneath the rib cages.

E.T. Phone Home

Classic, yet still a bit frightening, dress that bump up as everyones favorite extraterrestrial: E.T.! Form a basket or find some old handle bars to carry around with you and you will have successfully accomplished Halloween right from your comfy hoodie.

Unicorn and Baby Horn

Ok, so this one is kind of cute, or is it scary? We can’t decide but maybe it’s both. If you’ve always wanted to be a unicorn while simultaneously supporting your darker side, the last one on this list if perfect for you. What you’ll need: lots of color, glitter and 2 unicorn horns.
